Inaugural NMC Fellow, Rachel Cantor, Scores Two Book Publications with Melville House

18 Jan

Rachel Cantor, part of the first group of Mailer Colony fellows in 2009, has sold two books to the independent press Melville House. BOYCHIK, a debut novel about a Pythagorean pizza chain employee whose complaints hotline is taken over by a do-gooder from another century, will be published in Fall 2013, followed by DOOR NUMBER TWO, a novel about an underachieving translator who begins to suspect that her latest assignment, with a flamboyant Nobel Prize winner, is not what it seems. Twenty of Rachel Cantor’s stories have been published in the Paris Review, Kenyon Review, One Story, New England Review, Fence, and elsewhere. They have received three Pushcart Prize nominations, and been short-listed for Best American Short Stories and an O. Henry Award. Ms. Cantor lives in Brooklyn, New York.
